Positive Factors:

Keyword in URL

Keyword in title tag

Keyword in domain name

Keywords in description tag

Keywords in  keywords meta tag

Keyword density- should be between 5 and 20%

Keywords in H1, H2 or H3  ( Headlines, paragraphs )

Keyword font size in page text, bold , italics etc

Keyword proximity e.g where two keywords are close to each other

Size of page andsite load time.

Completing and putting these factors into action should stand you well in getting your site indexed with google and applied to gaining backlinks to your site could give you a good position for your keywords.

Negative Factors:

Text in grapic form only, leaving no content within the body

Dont be an affiliate site with no content and all links

Linking to link farms ( purpose built sites that exchanges links) or blacklisted sites as you will be tarred with the same brush

Redirecting through REFRESH meta tags

Avoid racial or ethinic slurs and vile language

Excessive cross links, especially within the same IP block ( suggesting the same server)

Keyword stuffing- keep words to a sensible level

Using frames- Search engines have problems reading them

Invisible text- same colour text as the background colour on your page and also very small text, size 10-12 recommended

Gateway pages that redirect to another site.
