Do you know anything about Alexa Ranking for your blog/site? I don’t, and I didn’t think it is important at all to my blog until I sign up with paid ad review sites.

What I found out is your Alexa Ranking is very serious, and it determines the rating of your blog when you apply for ad review opportunities. The higher the rank of a blog, the more tasks/assignments you will receive, and the more money you can make.

After reading many articles on Alexa, I found three easy steps to increase blogs ranking. As you can tell, I am on a quest to earn money while enjoy blogging.

Step One

Click on this link , type in your blog address, and click submit. Next, it will take you to another page, and you will need to click on “Request that Alexa crawl…(your site). If you want to, you can also click on “Update contact information…”

Step Two

Click on this link to go to Widget site, where you will scroll down the page to find what widget you want to put on your blog. For me, I chose to install the Alexa Traffic Rank, and Alexa Site Stats Button.

Hit Build Widget, then copy and paste the codes on your blog. Since I changed my template twice in the last six months, my ranking, and stats are just pathetic!

The reason why you should put the widgets on your blog is to let Alexa knows the traffic coming to your site.

Step Three

Download the Alexa toolbar for Firefox or Internet Explorer, and set your blog as your Home Page. The toolbar allows you to see other similar sites, traffic trend, and enhanced search.

I hope you will find this post useful/helpful to increase your blog ranking. Even if you are not into making money doing ad reviews, it is good to know that your blog brings enjoyment to other people.

Traffic is commonly known as the ‘life-blood’ of a Website. Without it, no matter how well you write, no one will be able to find and read it. 2) Submit Your Website to Search Engines and Directories

By adding your URL to search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN, they will index your site so that your link will appear in search results. Dmoz directory is a must for all websites.
By indexing your website to popular search engines, you are able to gain traffic when Internet users start clicking on your pages. When your website link is clicked by many of them, your page-rank will definitely increased. With an increased page-rank, more and more potential readers will tend to click on your link if they find it useful to them.

3) Participate in Forums

Participating in free traffic forum such as DigitalPoint Forum and Yahoo Answers can boost your traffic but you’ll have to include a signature at the end of the thread. To make your signature eye-catching, try to use larger fonts, contrasting colors, catchy titles and ensure success at a web traffic forum.

4) Write Articles and submit them to Article Directories

I know this is difficult but what you get in the end is another huge amount of traffic. Why?
When people search the Internet, they are primarily looking for information. By writing articles to provide at least some information people seek, you not only get traffic, but quality traffic.

5) You Can Buy Traffic

Buying traffic is paid and advertised traffic. This is also known as search engine marketing or pay-per-click marketing (PPC). Some of the popular ones offering pay-per-click advertising include programs provided by Google, Yahoo, etc. It is the fastest way of generating traffic.

One of the most frequent questions I am asked is, “How do I get my site indexed by Google and other search engines ?”

here is my attempt to answer that question.

If I have left anything out or you know of any other way to get indexed quickly then please share with the class by leaving a comment below.

1. Submit your RSS feed

If you have a new blog then you most likely already have an RSS feed created for you.

What’s you want to do is make sure that you submit your RSS feed to various RSS feed aggregators.  You can read more about submitting your feeds and a list of directories here:

The most important of these is Google reader:
http://www.google.com/reader/

If you don’t have an account with Google reader I highly suggest that you get one.  Whenever you submit a new RSS feed to follow with Google reader it notifies Google of the site’s existence.

2. Google bookmarks

Google along with other major search engines has given people the ability to have their own customized home page.  Part of this customization includes having a list of bookmarks of sites the user wants to visit again.

Anytime Google sees a bookmark on someone’s page I suspect that they add it to their list of sites to visit.

Hotmail and Yahoo also offer similar services and I highly recommend you take advantage of them.

3. Use Craigslist

Another creative way for Google to notice your new site is to get a link on Craigslist.

Now this is a little gray hat or black hat depending on who you ask so please don’t abuse it.

So what you want to do is go to Craigslist for some large city like Chicago and then look for Gigs and then for writing.

You’re going to post something under Gigs >> Writing about how you are looking for a potential writer for your blog.

Be sure to include a link to your website with the proper keywords in the anchor tag.

For example:

<a href="http://mysite.com">My keywords here</a>

Google crawls Craigslist frequently and will find your link.

I highly suggest doing this only once in one city.

Another side benefit of this is that you might actually find a good writer to help you produce content for your site.

Please don’t abuse this.

4. Post comments on blogs that don’t use nofollow

Posting relevant comments on blogs that don’t have nofollow in their links is another great way to get indexed very fast.

5. Buy links

If you have some money and very little time then simply buying some links might be the easiest way to go.

6. Article marketing

Writing articles and submitting them to Ezine Articles is another good way to get indexed quickly.

Social media can be a great way for you to get exposure to your site.  But submitting your site to zillions of different social media sites can be a major pain.

8. Link exchanges

Link exchanges are one of the oldest ways for people to get exposure to their website and get indexed.

You can search Google looking for link exchanges but that’s kind of a pain and can be very time consuming.
